My name is Matthew Brasher, owner and founder of Repurposed Heart Wood LLC, based in Calera, Alabama. I want to say thank you for visiting our shop and showing interest in the mission behind what we are doing to help recycle the Urban Forest! As a third generation residential tree surgeon, I grew up wondering why tree debris removed from urban areas was regarded as waste. With those lifelong questions driving me for answers, in 2018, I decided it was critical to take action and do my part to encourage participation in recycling debris cut from our urban areas and stop the madness of throwing away beautiful logs that are removed from the city due to storm damage and maintenance. We founded Repurposed Heart Wood on the idea of Biblical Stewardship! We believe it is our duty as human beings made in the image of God to take care of the creation by reflecting the image of our Creator to the rest of creation! For this reason, we saw, dry, and shape recycled logs from the Urban Forest into raw material and unique products, giving the portion of this vast national resource we've been entrusted with a new repurposed home, as opposed to seeing it rot in a landfill somewhere.
